I have tried St. Raphael, but only from a bottle that had spent months or years sitting open on the shelf in a non-airconditioned bar in Cap-Haitien. I guess I'd need to try a fresher bottle to form a real opinion on it.

I haven't tried Lillet Rouge, but the St. Raphael did not really remind me of Dubonnet. It didn't seem to have as much spice. Like you say, it was more citrus. Maybe like a darker and heavier version of Lillet Blanc?

Have you tried St. Rapheal? I think it's in the Dubonet/Lillet Rouge family - dark red with citrus overtones. I found some in the Boston area for $5!
