Had the road repairs made progress or was the trip up to Xiahe a shocker; I wonder what it would be like in this area in April, I couldn't imagine being there in winter. The monks in Xiahe were very friendly, but I only had the 1 opportunity before I decided to leave again. Did you go trekking into the hills away from Labuleng Si, I chatted with some hikers that said there were fences and barriers to dissuade the transient herder lifestyle.
