Are you a Canadian per chance, because you cross the street like one :) After living in Panama for over a year, I have come to accept that cars always have the right of way in these situations. The general line of thinking seems to be that a car is bigger and can hurt a pedestrian, and so pedestrians always yield to cars, even when the walk sign is lit. Queue jumpers and pimps have no excuse, and that driver was obviously not a very considerate person. I was attacked by a married couple inside a convenience shop in shanghai china i didn't fight back, (there is a video tape from a survielence camera to prove this) unfortunately the people who attacked me are connected high up in the police and court system, along with a growing anti foreign movement here... i'm being put through a shakedown here, they wanted over half a million dollars canadian initially, and slowly let it trickle down to about 50,000 canadian, which i don't have. now it's going to court. on dec 11th my lawyer had a meeting with the judge today here's the official word the police and the prosecutor had ruled that i am guilty, in spite of the fact that there is evidence to the contrary. if i plead not-guilty, he guarantees jail time. if i plead guilty, i may or may not have to do jail time. basically, if i go against the grand ultimate wisdom of their authorities, i willbe punished. if i plead guilty, i'm at thier mercy. and they can still do whatever, esp. considerign i agree with them.
